Pyladies Workshop 2022

This Pyladies Workshop will bring together all members in the pyladies Kampala community and new members in one day workshop geared at giving our community in contributing to open source in the Mobile Development space. This event will feature one keynote with most of the day focusing on contributing to the Beeware Library. The day will wind up with participants showcasing their contributions and awarding of gifts (T.Shirts and other Swag) to successful participants.

What can we do for the Python Community? The python community has many opportunities that we can all take up and contribute to. From technical to non-technical responsibilities, its evident that everyone of us has a gap they can fill. In this talk, I will share some ways we can take part in creating and the building the programming we love. Especially improving the mobile development Libraries that we love to use.

Contributing to Beeware: Available issues and distribution. I will hold a stand up session where each individual will find an existing issue within the Beeware codebase and they will propose a solution and an algorithm to solve the issue with the aid of the coaches.

Getting Hands-on with contribution to the Beeware library. In this session I will guide the participants through a session where they will each contribute to their chosen issue. Here we will engage the Beeware team from time to time.

Continuation to contribution, fixing bugs. As a Continuation from the previous session, in this session I will guide the participants through testing their code against the Beeware codebase and perform integration tests.

Pull requests on chosen tasks. In this session, I will guide the participants into making pull requests and making changes as suggested from code reviewers from the Beeware team.

Opportunities in Open source. In this session, I will introduce to other opportunities in Mobile open source development and make a case for its need.
